Wood Flooring Choices for Your El Dorado Hills Home

Hardwood floors come in a wide variety of wood species, colors, and widths. Besides the classic North American hardwoods (like red oak, white oak, maple, and ash) many wood flooring manufacturers now offer exotic hardwood species from all over the World. Exotic wood selections include bamboo flooring, tiger wood and Brazilian cherry. Exotic hardwoods give El Dorado Hills homeowners the chance to better express their own personal decorating tastes with a unique looking floor.

Wood species vary in hardness, which translates into different levels of durability. Consider oak, maple, ash or Brazilian cherry flooring for the greatest durability. Another great option for highly durable wood floors are engineered hardwood floors. If durability is not a primary consideration for your new hardwood floor, then consider a softer wood like yellow birch or black walnut. Engineered Hardwood Floors for Your El Dorado Hills Home

Through advancements in manufacturing wood floors, today’s engineered hardwood floors are more durable and adaptable to many different living areas in your El Dorado Hills area home. Engineered wood flooring is composed of three to ten layers, called plies that are glued together. This layered construction makes wood flooring stronger than solid wood. Engineered wood floors allow El Dorado Hills homeowners to use hardwood flooring in areas of the home that they would never have considered in the past.

El Dorado Hills’ Best Solid Wood Flooring

Solid wood flooring is less durable than engineered wood floors because it is made of 100% hardwood milled from lumber. Solid wood floors are constructed with natural material which reacts to extreme temperatures and moisture. This means that solid wood floors can expand or shrink over time. However, solid hardwood flooring can be sanded and refinished over the years to manage any changes to conditions and temperatures. For below ground and bathroom hardwood floor installations, it is best to avoid solid hardwood and choose more durable flooring such as engineered hardwood floors.

Ask the experts at S&G Carpet and More to help you find hardwood flooring that is right for your El Dorado Hills home or office. And don’t forget to ask about our guaranteed hardwood floor installations when you visit an S&G Carpet and More showroom near El Dorado Hills.

El Dorado Hills, CA

El Dorado Hills lies about 13 miles from the 1848 gold discovery site in Coloma, where the California Gold Rush began. The South Fork of the American River washed gold downstream, into areas now in El Dorado Hills and Folsom, but farming and ranching superseded the Gold Rush. Portions of two Pony Express routes in this area from 1860-1861 remain as modern El Dorado Hills roads. El Dorado Hills includes the longest surviving section of the El Dorado Hills Highway, the first U.S. transcontinental highway. This section, part of the Pioneer Branch, passes through historic Clarksville and is the predecessor of the modern US 50 route. tely planned from its inception as a group of residential “villages”. Other land uses in the master plan included a business park, two 18-hole golf courses, community parks, schools, a community shopping center, and small commercial centers in each village. The master plan emphasized open space between villages and opportunity for outdoor recreation.
